PART 1 — COMPARISONS

Comparing Similar Things

noun + is/are + as + adjective + as + noun

✔️ Use when two things are the same

"Yuma is as hot as Kuwait City."

"Madagascar is as big as the UK."

🧠 Memory Tip: as = same

Comparing Different Things

noun + is/are + not as + adjective + as + noun

❌ Use when things are NOT the same

"China is not as big as the US."

"Nepal is not as small as Greece."

🧠 Memory Tip: not as = different

Comparative Adjectives

noun + is/are + ...er than / more ... than + noun

"The UK is smaller than New Zealand."

"Africa is bigger than China."

🧠 Memory Tip: than = comparison

How to Make Comparatives

1. Short Words

cold → colder | fast → faster

2. CVC Words

big → bigger | hot → hotter

3. Ends in -y

easy → easier | happy → happier

4. Long Words

beautiful → more beautiful

Rule: Short = -er | Long = more

PART 2 — TOO & NOT ENOUGH

Using "too"

too + adjective

❌ Meaning: More than needed (Problem!)

  • "The rent is too expensive."
  • "The ticket price is too high."
🧠 Memory Tip: too = problem

Using "not enough"

not + adjective + enough

❌ Meaning: Less than needed

  • "The room isn’t big enough."
  • "The beer isn’t cold enough."
🧠 Memory Tip: not enough = missing something

Forms of "Used To"

Negative

didn’t use to + verb

"I didn't use to like coffee."

Question

Did + subject + use to + verb?

"Did you use to work here?"

🚫 Never Present: ❌ "I use to work here" ➡️ ✅ "I work here"

PART 5 — RELATIVE CLAUSES

Who / That (People)

Join two sentences about a person.

"Mel is the person who makes the artwork."
"Mel is the person that makes the artwork."

Things & Places

THINGS
